I just got a Dell 22" Widescreen lcd monitor, its bloody marvellous, so good for race games, flight sims and photoshop stuff, breathed a new lease of life into a lot of my old games, once tweaked to run on widescreen format.
there was another post here a couple of weeks agi about widescreens too, which suggested that most of the main names (Taiwan/Korea leading the manufacture field) used generic flat panel displays from the same big chinese factory source. Now some areas of my business encroach on the FPD market so I would suggest there is a fair bit of truth in this statement. Therefore there may really not be much difference in quality between the different brands, you just pay more for some names and smarter styling (Sony, HP) with the basic quality being the same. In this case, I'd go for the best you can afford within reason; if there's a cheap chinese one more than £50 cheaper than a Dell or Samsung, for example then I would be suspicious. Otherwise Samsung are now world leaders in FPD technology along with Panasonic and Hitachi, who will all now sell as Japanese (more money) but use overseas (China & Korea) components.

It's really simple - theres a little button you can click. Default is on.
The Windows Vista security centre has more info. You can turn on/off firewall, anti-spam, antivirus, internet security, user account security, each has a little button next to them. (Hint: Green - on, Red = off)

Just disable the account security option so it doesn't ask you 3 times to confirm if you want to create a new folder on your C: drive.
That might help the save replays issue, it doesn't like programs saving files to disk unless they have a note from Uncle Bill.

Theres web sites and forums dedicated to wringing the last bit of performance from your pc, google search will reveal loads, and software tools to overclock your cpu and gpu's. It's an underground cult movement - if it ain't broke, tweak it till it is.

Way back in Papy's nascar 2003 (and probably earlier) too much close drafting on the superspeedways could cause cooling problems. Pull out of the slipstream a little and chill your water a bit, all part of the real-life tactics, these little touches add a lot to the realism of a game.

Aaaah, Geoff is my hero, he came up with Revs when i first bought a PC (A BBC micro) Revs rocked big time - max throttle and the rest of the team. thats probably the worst car to choose for ai stuff, as speed is so much more extreme, it amplifies the shortcomings. Try it on a saloon car instead.

not had this problem. 32-bit Vista home premium, stock vista screensaver set to 15 mins, LFS continues to take priority and no screensaver kicks in for me during a LFS session. I'm also running the latest patch W.
Yep it's a real pain. I searched for a while before working out how to turn that particular account security feature off. Got really annoyed with being advised 3 times if I wanted to create / rename a folder in a C: drive directory. Auto drag and drop zip and rar files weren't working properly either till this 'feature' was disabled. Welcome to Vista.

Its getting embarassing how many years I've been playing GPL. It's taken a huge leap forwards today finding the rastdll hack to run it at 1680 x 1050 on the new widescreen monitor. With the new track texture addon packs it looks fabulous and runs like silk!Really enjoying the close battles of the 65 mod at the moment, till I can relearn how to keep the bigger cars on the road.
